Legacy Fund
Dear Editor: The Advisory Board of the Greater Sitka Legacy Fund announces Sitka’s success at the 2013 Community Asset Building Challenge from the Rasmuson Foundation. Over 120 Sitkan individuals, businesses, and agencies invested a total of nearly $27,000 to the new community foundation fund, which was rewarded by Rasmuson Foundation with a double-matching grant of $50,000 deposited in the Sitka fund’s endowment. Greater Sitka Legacy Fund has also received from Rasmuson Foundation $5,000 to use for immediate projects in Sitka, and the Fund will soon announce a process for applications for the grant funds.
Because of the Greater Sitka Legacys Fund’s success in 2013, Rasmuson has invited Sitka to do it again – to raise at least $25,000 in 2014, to be rewarded with another $50,000 from Rasmuson to kick start the Fund to a total of at least $150,000 at the end of 2014.
The advisory board wants to recognize and thank publicly ALL of the 2013 Founding Members of the Sitka Legacy Fund, people, businesses, and agencies who have invested in this community foundation fund. Greater Sitka Legacy Fund is the only endowment fund in Sitka that is both open to new investment by supportive Sitkans and dedicated to community-wide use.
Greater Sitka Legacy Fund is also seeking applicants to serve on the advisory board and volunteers to help with the 2014 effort to grow the endowment fund with another double-matching grant challenge from Rasmuson Foundation. Please contact any of the board members below if you are interested.
