Quilt Auction Thanks
Dear Editor: Ocean Wave Quilt Guild Scholarship 26th annual small quilt and related items auction is over and was again a big success. The guild brought in $3,213.85 before expenses thanks to the 35 people who signed in.
Seventeen mini-quilts went home with happy winners along with 43 more items that ranged from fabric to quilts, books, tools and two framed quilt pictures in cross stitch.
We extend a huge thank you to the great helpers from Harrigan Centennial Hall staff and the guild members who worked behind the scenes and during the auction, several who took on more than one job.
Also thanks to the Daily Sitka Sentinel, KCAW, and Sitka Soup for publicity and businesses that hung our posters.
Of course, our auction wouldn’t have been such a great success without the many who donated the little works-of-art quilts and other auctions items and all the supporters who showed up and bid generously.
We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you.
Julia Smith and Karen Boyer,
Ocean Wave Quild Guild
Scholarship Auction Coordinators

SAFV Food Drive
Dear Editor: On behalf of the staff and board of Sitkans Against Family Violence, I would like to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to making SAFV’s food drive a success.
We received a great deal of shelf stable food, and cash donations that will allow us to keep restocking our shelves! We would also like to extend a special thank you to Sea Mart Quality Foods.
Food boxes are available to anyone in the community in need. Call and speak with an advocate at 907 747-3370 to arrange for a box. Gunalchéesh to everyone who has supported this program.
