Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
March 4
At 11:49 a.m. a caller reported a man was in a Japonski Island parking lot poking around the cars.
At 4:13 p.m. ravens were reported getting into spilled trash at Crescent Harbor. The harbor master was advised.
A man reported losing his phone in the 1800 block of HPR. He gave police a number to call if the phone was found.
At 11:57 p.m. residents on Burkhart Drive complained of the noise being made by a man working on a car.
March 5
At 12:29 a.m. a man was reported lingering at John Brady Drive and Jeff Davis. Officers told him to move along.
At 5:50 a.m. TSA called about a plane passenger with marijuana. Officers found all was correct, and the passenger was allowed to board the plane.
A woman called about possible fraud at a Facebook market place.
At 9:38 a.m. a boat was reported on fire at Thomsen Harbor. Police and the fire hall responded, and the fire was doused. (See story on page 1.)
At 10:26 a.m. a California driver was reported speeding and driving without an Alaska license on Katlian Street. Officers gave him a warning.
A woman called about messages her mother was sending. Officers found the mother was fine.
At 2:35 p.m. a caller reported finding a badly injured seagull in a parking lot in the 1800 block of HPR. It was disposed of.
At 10:11 p.m. police talked to three men who wanted to play basketball on the Keet Gooshi Heen court, and told them the school grounds were closed.
March 6
At 1:03 a.m. a woman said she’d heard people in a garage next door to her home. Officers were unable to locate anyone there.
At 1:18 a.m. residents on Remington Way complained of loud music. Officers didn’t find the music was too loud.
At 11:37 a.m. a caller said a driver had cut him off as he walked in the 700 block of HPR, but the driver said the man hadn’t been watching where he was going. An officer spoke with the two.
At 12:41 p.m. a caller said a man had pushed a grocery cart to Biorka and Park streets and left it. Officers responded.
At 2:26 a.m. police were notified about a dispute over the sale of a vehicle.
At 1:37 p.m. a caller asked for help in giving a dog CPR, at Erler Street and HPR. The dog was taken to the animal shelter, where it died apparently of a heart attack.
A debit card was found on Airport Road, and the owner was notified.
Man Held In
Knife Assault
Brandon Ledbetter, 39, was arrested Friday on a charge of assault in the second degree, domestic violence. He is accused of trying to stab a 55-year-old man seated at the kitchen table of their apartment home in the 200 block of Katlian Street. Police said the man grabbed the knife, cutting his hand, and ran outside where a passerby called 911. The man received stitches in his hand, police said. Ledbetter was arrested on the street, and arraigned, with bail set at $5,000.

Mark Davis, 52, was arrested Sunday on a charge of assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence.

Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 11:36 p.m. Friday; 2:35 a.m., 7:08 a.m., 1:52 p.m. and 8:42 p.m. Saturday; 7:14 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9:53 p.m. Sunday; and 12:01 a.m., 1:24 a.m., 1:30 a.m. and 9:20 a.m. today.
In Court
Michael Starr, 31, of Angoon, on a Nov. 30, 2021, charge of criminal mischief in the fourth degree (property damage between $250 and $749) was sentenced Friday to 360 days with 330 days suspended, and fined $1,000, suspended. On a charge of resisting/interfering with arrest by force he was sentenced to 60 days, suspended, and fined $500. Both charges are class A misdemeanors. He was placed on probation until March 4, 2025, and ordered to get an integrated behavioral health assessment and follow recommendations. Charges of assault in the fourth degree, recklessly injure; disorderly conduct; and harassment in the first degree, offensive contact with fluids, were dismissed by the prosecution.
Scott W. Delong, 59, on a Nov. 28, 2021, charge of assault in the fourth degree, recklessly injure, was sentenced to 90 days, with all but time served suspended; and was fined $1,000, suspended. He is to be on probation until March 3, 2023.
A case against Jai Jeffries-Hamar, 42, was dismissed without prejudice by the prosecutor Friday.
