Quilt Auction
Dear Editor:
Thanks to all who attended and so generously bid on mini quilts and quilting-related items at Ocean Wave Quilters’ annual scholarship fundraising auction March 3.
A total of $2,619.13 was raised for scholarships which will be awarded to two high school seniors and Sitka Fine Arts Camp for elementary scholarships. Stay tuned for an announcement closer to graduation as to who the winners are.
Seniors at Sitka, Pacific and Mt. Edgecumbe high schools can still contact their counselors and make application.
Of course, no community event like this can take place without all the behind-the-scenes support of many individuals. We would like to thank our members and others who donated auction items; helped with set up, clean up, refreshments, checking bidders in and out, and monitoring the action; making, paying for and distributing the beautiful poster; and keeping the lively bidding going.
We’d also like to thank Raven Radio, KIFW, Sitka Soup, GCI, the Sentinel and Abby’s Reflection and Quiltworks for promoting our event, and Harrigan Centennial Hall staff for being flexible.
