The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.

April 28

At 12:32 a.m. a man was reported knocking on a door on Burkhart Drive. It was found he was at the wrong house, and was returned to his residence.

At 5:59 a.m. a man was reported sleeping in the post office. He was awakened and told to leave.

At 8:27 a.m. a school bus with no passengers was reported to have clipped a street sign at Wachusettts and Kimsham streets. Damage was minor.

A caller reported getting a fraudulent call from someone posing as  a representative of Amazon. The caller was advised of options.

At 5:47 p.m. a caller reported hearing a loud pop on the Cross Trail then people screaming. Police advised the caller it was a track meet.

A woman said she’d been getting threats from an ex-boyfriend. An officer spoke with her.

April 29

At 4:53 a.m. a man was reported passed out in front of Lakeside. He was take to the hospital.

At 7:26 a.m. a man said he may have been drugged at a bar the night before. He had awakened with his wallet containing $1,200 and his phone missing, he said. Police began an investigation.

At 8:25 a.m. a caller reported a person might be cooking meth in the area of SMC and Baranof Street. Officers found no evidence of such activity.

At 12:27 p.m. a caller reported minors underneath the bridge, making rude gestures and throwing trash into the ocean. They had left in a pickup before officers arrived. Officers found no trash in the ocean.

At 3:24 p.m. a caller reported six or seven juveniles in the 100 block of Lincoln Street were smoking. They were gone when officers arrived.

At 7:50 p.m. a building in the 100 block of Lincoln Street was reported to have been damaged during the day.

April 30

At 5:14 a.m. an intoxicated man was reported behind the library, appearing to argue with someone. Police advised him to leave and gave him a disorderly conduct warning.

At 3 p.m. a caller said a fishing boat had hit another boat at the Eliason Harbor transient dock, and that boat had hit a 20-foot inflatable dinghy. Damage was minor, police said.

At 5:31 p.m. a caller complained truck drivers were speeding on the Granite Creek Road all day long, and the caller was worried they would hit someone.

At 6:16 p.m. a man was found to be passed out at the movie theater. An officer talked to him.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Friday, five on Saturday and two on Sunday.

Also on Saturday, at 8:44 p.m. smoke was reported coming from a building in the 2500 block of HPR, but it was found to be a controlled burn; and a call came in at 9:05 p.m. from the Totem Square Inn but it was found no fire had occurred.

On Sunday a fire alarm sounded at 8:29 a.m. from the 400 block of Lake Street but it turned out to be burned food, not a fire, that had triggered the alarm.

 

Sitka Police

Delane Black, 28, was charged Saturday with violating conditions of release on an August 2022 charge of assault in the fourth degree.

 

Coast Guard

A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter crew Sunday afternoon flew to Kell Bay on the south side of Kuiu Island where two men were stranded after their boat overturned on the beach. The men, who were staying at a lodge at Point Baker, told the crew they were waiting for the Coast Guard Cutter Pike to arrive from Petersburg with a water pump.

The station had received the call from the Juneau office at 3:43 p.m., launched at 4:12 p.m., and after checking with the men at about 5 p.m. had returned to Sitka, arriving at 6:15 p.m.
