Judy Eledge

Dear Editor: ProPublica recently published an article detailing Republican leader Judy Eledge’s history of racist and transphobic remarks. Judy was recently appointed to represent Alaska at the Education Commission of the States by Governor Dunleavy.

The entire article can be found at https://www.propublica.org/article/judy-eledge-alaska-libraries-recordings-dunleavy and it includes an audio recording of Judy Eledge communicating her bigoted views at her workplace.

Gov. Dunleavy apparently sees no issue with her racist remarks against Alaska Natives. I hope that most Alaskans and Alaskan organizations that are against racial and other types of discrimination feel differently.

It is shameful that Eledge, who felt comfortable saying Eskimos diddle their kids, continues to have the support of our governor whose family is Alaska Native. I urge other concerned Alaskans to call Dunleavy’s office at (907)465-3500 and ask that Judy Eledge no longer represent Alaska on the Education Commission of the States. Thank you.
