Police Blotter
The following calls were recorded as of 8 a.m. today.
May 9
At 11:42 a.m. an unoccupied vehicle was reported in danger of going into the water in the 4700 block of HPR. The owner was advised.
At 11:46 a.m. a dog was reported running at large in the 2000 block of HPR. It was returned to its owner.
At 2:56 p.m. bus drivers were reported getting into the wrong lane at Lincoln Street and Lake Street, where a left-turn-only lane had been designated. Cruise lines were notified.
A caller reported an 18-year-old girl was missing. She was located and was safe.
At 6:05 p.m. a man was reported directing traffic at Lake and Lincoln streets although he had no official capacity to do so. He agreed to leave.
At 11:57 a.m. a caller reported a bear in the Indian River subdivision. Officers found no evidence of a bear there.
May 10
At 4:04 a.m. a person was reported banging on a door on Etolin Way. Police found it was someone who had been locked out of a short-term rental, and provided assistance.
At 5:58 a.m. a man was reported celebrating in the 400 block of Lake Street. He was found to be able to care for himself.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls Tuesday and three early today. At 4:35 p.m. a campfire was reported on SMC but it was extinguished before a fire truck arrived.
