Crosswalk Signs

Dear Editor: Now that the solar-powered crosswalk signs are installed at the HPR/Peterson Street intersection (thanks to Jeremy Twaddle of Island Enterprises!) we are hoping to have them installed by Baranof Elementary School and Blatchley Middle School. According to the Alaska Department of Transportation the “numbers” don’t warrant having them installed...so WE NEED YOUR HELP! (Yes, this means YOU!)

DOT needs to hear that Sitkans want the solar-powered crosswalk signs installed at BES and BMS. Please take a minute to let them know that this is an important safety improvement for Sitka.

They are also taking comments on the Sitka Sawmill Creek Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Improvements Project #68100. http://dot.alaska.gov/sereg/projects/sitka_sawmill_rd/index.shtml.

You can email comments to Chris Schelb at Chris.Schelb@alaska.gov or mail your comments to him at P.O. Box 112506, Juneau, AK 99811-2506.

Please send your request for solar-powered crosswalks at Blatchley Middle School and Baranof Elementary School TODAY!
