Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
May 12
Abandoned vehicles at ANB Harbor, Castle Hill, Crescent Harbor, Thomsen Harbor, downtown, Baranof and DeGroff streets, Price Street, Sealing Cove and Eliason Harbor were tagged.
At 10:44 a.m. a business on Katlian Street reported finding a wallet, phone and pants. The owner was contacted, and it was determined he had sleepwalked there from a boat, left the items, then returned to the boat. He retrieved his property.
At 11:20 a.m. very intoxicated people were reported in the 1200 block of SMC. One was deemed able to care for himself but another was unconscious and was taken to the hospital.
At 11:12 a.m. a dog was reported running at large in the 300 block of Seward Street, but it was gone when the ACO arrived.
At 12:28 p.m. tourists were reported feeding herring to eagles at Back Beach. Wildlife troopers were notified.
A bike that had been found was turned in to police.
A woman reported being harassed by someone who had tailgated her and turned up in her yard. She was advised of options.
A man said a cooling tank had been stolen from his truck at Eliason Harbor, and items were missing from his boat.
A caller said an ATM at a downtown bank had eaten his credit card. Police contacted the bank.
At 10:28 p.m. juveniles were reported riding dirt bikes that didn’t have lights in the 300 block of Marine Street. They were gone when officers arrived.

Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Thursday, and four as of 8 a.m. today.
Coast Guard
A Coast Guard Air Station helicopter on Thursday searched more than four hours after an electronic distress signal was received from the Duke Island area, south of Metlakatla.
Sector Juneau notified the Air Station of the signal at 1 p.m., and a helicopter was diverted to the area for a search. The crew found no signs of vessels in distress and received no reports of missing boats or people, the Coast Guard said. The helicopter returned to Sitka by 6 p.m.
