Trump
Dear Editor: Last week, after celebrating one of the happiest days of my (our) lives – our 32nd wedding anniversary; we came home and had the news on TV.
Almost vomited my anniversary dinner food.
This silly (extremely dangerous) crap going on with our recent ... new ... ‘‘leader of the free world’’ ... has my digestive system upset.
Not to mention my attempts as a husband, father of two kids, carpenter, building contractor, home energy rater (retired) to be a rational, truthful, logical and caring person on planet earth.
Finally this evening I heard the word ‘‘impeachment’’ mentioned concerning our 120-day ‘‘commander in chief’’! This alien Trump is a serious danger to the U.S.A., democracy and the free world!

Hanging Baskets
Dear Editor: Revitalize Sitka: Creating a Vibrant Community would like to send a huge thank you to the following donors who contributed to the hanging baskets which will hang on city lamp posts on Lincoln Street this summer. Without these generous supporters, the baskets that decorate our downtown would not be possible. Thank you for beautifying Lincoln Street.

SAFV Benefit
Dear Editor: Sitkans Against Family Violence was the beneficiary of a surprise fundraiser last Friday. Staff members enjoyed an Alaska Dream Cruises dinner cruise on the M/V Chichagof Dream. The public was invited, and the Greater Sitka Chamber of Commerce encouraged members to attend. Our heartfelt thanks go to Dave Allen, Jamie Cagle, the crew of the Chichagof Dream, and Rachel Roy of the Chamber. We appreciated the opportunity to speak about our work.
At the end of the evening, we received an unexpected and unprecedented amount of cash, generously matched by Dave Allen, to support our work. This was the most delightful fundraiser ever. We want to thank everyone who gave to our cause of providing empowerment-based services to survivors of interpersonal violence while working on promoting a community of non-violence and respect. We are extremely grateful to live in a community that is willing to share their resources with those who are less fortunate. Thank you all.
