Big Rig Fundraiser
Dear Editor: As we wind down from another Big Rig fundraiser we, the staff and board of 3 to 5 Preschool, are humbled by the outpouring of support from all of Sitka – a small community with a gigantic heart. As a small non-profit we cannot operate without our yearly fundraisers and it takes many hands to make them a success.
First of all, we wish to thank everyone who came to our event; we loved seeing your smiling faces and sharing in your enjoyment of local rigs and trucks. We had 30 rigs and vehicles participating this year including the Absolute Tree Care cherry picker truck that people could ride up and down on and the five community members who shared their all terrain vehicles and gave rides! It was awesome!
A big thank you to the U.S. Coast Guard, Sitka Fire Department, the Sitka Police, and all those who brought rigs and trucks to our event this year! Thank you to Mt. Edgecumbe High School National Honors Society, the Delta Kappa Gamma teachers group, and Sadije—a foreign exchange student who loved volunteering at all three of our fundraisers! Their joyful attitude and willingness to work contributed in a huge way to our successful day.
Thank you to the following businesses and individuals who sponsored us this year: Arrowhead Transfer, Island Bus and Sitka Tours, Hardrock Construction, Pacific Services, Sitka Swirls, Sea Mart and Market Center.
We are so grateful for the generosity of our sponsors. A special thanks goes to the Daily Sitka Sentinel for supporting us in all of our fundraisers each year and the Sitka Bottling Company for donating drinks once again. Thank you to Sitka Swirls for gracing our event with their enthusiasm and delicious ice cream.
We are also grateful for the new addition of some local food trucks who joined us this year: Uptown Dogs, the Hog Hole, and Ye Tacoloco. It’s great to have local businesses supporting us. Again, we are so appreciative of the out pouring of love from all! We hope to see you next year!
