May 17, 2021, Police Blotter

Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today.

May 14

Citizen contact was made at a downtown bar at 1:56 a.m.

At 3:46 a.m. a bear was reported in the 2100 block of HPR.

At 4:31 a.m., 4:37 a.m., 4:39 a.m. and 4:51 a.m. unsecured trash was reported strewn about on Anna Drive.

At 9:54 a.m. a man said he returned home and found items missing.

At 5:14 p.m. kids were reported fighting at Crescent Harbor.  The kids told police they were just playing around.

At 8:39 p.m. a caller on Toivo Circle reported getting harassing phone calls.

At 9:18 p.m. a hit-and-run traffic accident was reported at 1207 SMC. The driver was charged, and both vehicles sustained damage.

A noise complaint was filed at 9:54 p.m. on Cedar Beach Road.

May 15

At 2:46 a.m. citizen contact was made at 2500 SMC.

At 11:49 a.m. suspicious activity was reported in the 2900  block of SMC.

At 5:07 p.m. a man reported accidentally locking his car with the keys and his dog inside, on Alice Loop Road. Officers helped him get in the car.

At 10:03 p.m. a runaway was reported on Back Beach.

Citizen contact was made at 10:06 p.m. on Kincroft Way and at 10:34 p.m. on Back Beach.

May 16

An officer did foot patrol on Lincoln Street at 12:09 a.m.

At 4:39 p.m. a noise complaint on Darrin Drive was logged.

At 6:30 a.m. a noise complaint in the 2300 block of HPR was logged.

At 11:31 a.m. suspicious activity was reported near the library.

At 3:44 p.m. suspicious activity was reported at Totem Park visitor center.

At 6:30 p.m. a traffic accident with damage was reported on Charteris Street.

At 7:36 p.m. a citizen assist was logged on Indian River Road.

 

Driver Charged

Andrew Corak, 35, was charged Friday afternoon with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police reports said he was heading outbound in a 2002 Ford Explorer and struck a 2010 Jeep Wrangler when he turned into Cascade Convenience Store in the 1200 block of Sawmill Creek Road. He was arrested at his home, the reports said. The vehicles were damaged but police logged no injuries.

 

Emergency  Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Friday, two on Saturday and three Sunday.
