Teacher Appreciation
Dear Editor: As we approach Teacher Appreciation Day, I am compelled to express my gratitude and admiration for the educators in our community who continue to demonstrate unwavering dedication despite unprecedented challenges.
In the wake of budget cuts and unforeseen circumstances, our teachers have faced daunting obstacles, yet they persistently show up, ready to inspire and educate our children. Their resilience and commitment deserve our highest recognition and respect.
Amidst uncertainties and adversities, it is the teachers who remain steadfast in their mission to nurture young minds and shape the future generation. They are the unsung heroes who tirelessly strive to provide quality education, often going above and beyond their call of duty.
It is crucial that on this day of appreciation, we remember and honor these remarkable individuals who pour their hearts and souls into their profession. They are the ones who not only impart knowledge but also instill values, confidence, and a love for learning in our children.
As parents, guardians, and community members, let us take a moment to express our gratitude to the teachers who care deeply about the well-being and success of our kids. Let us recognize their sacrifices and acknowledge the immense impact they have on shaping the future of our society.
To all the teachers out there, thank you for your unwavering dedication, passion, and resilience. Your tireless efforts do not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for everything you do.

Archie Young Article
Dear Editor: Big thank you to the Sitka Sentinel and Klas Stolpe for Klas’ recent two-part tribute describing the career of MEHS coach Archie Young.
It is so appropriate that a coach of Archie’s caliber has been honored by a writer of Klas’ talent. During Klas’ previous time with the Sentinel several years ago I quickly came to appreciate his unique writing style, which I recognized within the opening two sentences of Tuesday’s article. Talent respects talent. Thank you to both men for using their all-state talents to improve the lives of Alaskans.
