Quilt Show Thanks
Dear Editor: The Ocean Wave Quilters 31st Annual Quilt Show, “April Showers Bring May Flowers,” has been hung, viewed, voted on, feted with a Mother’s Day Tea, and, sadly, now taken down. All of the beautiful quilts have been returned to their owners to be put back on walls, tabletops and beds to brighten homes and to warm hearts and bodies. This could not have happened without the help of many people, and to all of them I extend my most humble thanks and appreciation.
If you missed the show this year, check out the Facebook page for Sitka Convention and Visitors Bureau to see pictures of all of the quilts. See you again next year.

Junior Achievement
Dear Editor: The Sitka Junior Achievement Board of Directors wishes to acknowledge and thank the following Sitka business people who volunteered their experience and time in the first, second, fourth and fifth grade elementary classrooms to teach economics to our students: Nicchia Leamer of Alaska Pacific Bank; Amy Watson of Venneberg Insurance; Tracie Harang of Sitka Tango Books; Kristin Schmidt of MEHS; and Jeff Budd, Greater Sitka Arts Council.
Financial contributors to this year’s program include Alaska Commercial Company (A/C Lakeside), First National Bank of Anchorage, and Harbor Enterprises (Petro Marine). Without all of the above, Junior Achievement of Sitka would not have happened. Also, a big thank you to the teachers and building administrators who allowed us into their classrooms in Baranof Elementary and Keet Gooshi Heen: Mrs. Esquiro, Mrs. Pike, Mrs. Bradshaw, Mrs. Christianson, Mrs. Hole, and Mrs. Bartaloba.
Additional thanks to Bill Winslow, business teacher at MEHS, for teaching two Junior Achievement classes this last year to his students, and thanks to Justin Penny of Wells Fargo for his support of that program. Thank you to these individuals for their time, effort, expertise, and financial contributions.
