Foraker Training
Dear Editor: During today’s very tight financial climate the two words to describe a good training opportunity are ‘‘free’’ and ‘‘local.’’ Sitka board/commission members were recently provided with the opportunity to attend two days of quality training by Mike Walsh, vice president of the Foraker Group. This was paid for by an award received by Brave Heart Volunteers and funded by a SEARHC Community Transformation Grant.
Human resources are also at a premium, and this training taught the board/commission members present how to govern more efficiently and effectively, thereby making better use of everyone’s time. The training sessions clarified the board/commission member’s role, and presented great strategies on how to perform at a high level to achieve more.
This training opportunity was an excellent example of community agencies partnering to enhance limited resources.
We’d like to thank Willow Moore and Brave Heart Volunteers for providing this quality training locally, and for free.
