May 22, 2023, Police Blotter

The following calls were logged as of 8 a.m. today.

May 19

At 12:37 a.m. callers complained of noise in the 400 block of Lake Street, where people were playing cards and being loud. After talking to police the group agreed to be quieter.

At 4:30 a.m. a dead deer was reported at Halibut Point Recreation Area. The carcass was taken to the Raptor Center.

At 5:28 a.m. a man was reported in the road yelling, in the 700 block of Lake Street. He was taken to the hospital then back to his home.

A caller reported someone offered her cocaine downtown.

A dog was reported to have bitten a child on Mills Street, then afterward gotten run over and had to be euthanized by a veterinarian.

The Office of Children Services gave police information on child abuse.

A driver had a seizure on Harbor Drive and was taken to the hospital.

May 20

At 2 a.m. an assault was reported downtown but no one wanted to press charges.

At 2:31 a.m. an individual at Castle Hill was told of park hours.

A reckless driver was reported  in the 400 block of HPR, but police found the driver just wasn’t paying attention.

A child caught smoking ran away but returned later.

A caller asked for a welfare check on an elderly neighbor. Police found the neighbor was OK.

An intoxicated woman who had been taken off a plane was reported causing a disturbance. She was taken to a lodge.

An intoxicated man refusing to leave a hospital was trespassed.

May 21

At 1:30 p.m. a 16-year-old with alcohol poisoning was taken from Halibut Point Rec Area.

A hit and run traffic accident was reported at Crescent Harbor at 9:51 a.m. Police opened a case on it.

At 8:24 p.m. parents reported issues with a juvenile child who was being aggressive. The child was taken to the hospital.

May 22

At 12:10 a.m. a man was reported passed out in the Castle Hill parking lot. He was taken to the hospital.

 

Sitka Police

Terrance James Patterson, 32, of Arlington, Washington, was charged Saturday morning with driving under the influence.

 

Michael C. Miyasato, 36, was charged Sunday with assault in the first degree, a Class A felony, and burglary in the first degree, a Class B felony.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Friday, three more on Saturday, and another three on Sunday.

 

Wildlife Troopers

Timothy Eddy, 50, was fined $170 on a charge of taking a lingcod in a closed season, while sport fishing May 14 near Biorka Island, wildlife troopers said. The lingcod was donated to charity, troopers said.
