Basketball Tourney

Dear Editor: Our fourth, fifth and sixth grade girls basketball team recently returned from the Hooping for Spring basketball tournament in Valdez April 28-30.

We would like to thank the following individuals and businesses: The amazing fry bread queen Rachel Moreno and her right-hand lady Rose Demmert for volunteering not one but TWO hugely successful Indian taco and fry bread fundraisers. Without the help of these two individuals the majority of our fundraising wouldn’t have been possible.

To the ANB and ANS clubs for donating their hall and kitchen. We appreciate that your brotherhood and sisterhood take an investment in our youths and make it possible for our kids to reach goals and have positive opportunities to engage in. To Sea Mart, who goes above and beyond for our youths and community services. They donated a gift card for our Indian taco supplies and space for our bake sales. Your generosity in this community does not go unnoticed, we appreciate you! We had sponsorship from the following businesses – Delta Western and Cascade Creek Inn and Charters.

We would also like to give a huge thanks to Casey Demmert, Rich Krupa and Dianne Chong for ensuring our girls had gym space to practice in for the month of April.

Thank you, Sitka.
