Police Blotter
Sitka police logged the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
May 24
A man was reported tearing apart a residence. Officers found no one there.
The Keet field concession stand was reported broken into.
A baggie with possible drug material was turned in.
An officer on an EMS call talked to two women in an argument near a Lincoln Street bar.
May 25
At 1:27 a.m. a caller said she thought she’d heard knocking on her window, on Geodetic Way. Officers found no one in the area.
A caller reported having a dispute with her sister. An officer found no evidence of a crime.
A caller said neighbors were having a physical dispute, and a man and woman were punching each other through a window. The woman left and the man told officers they were arguing about his faithfulness. While officers were there the woman texted him to leave. He said he would do so.
A man said he was getting scam phone calls from someone claiming to be with Wells Fargo. Officers advised him to call IC3.gov.
A caller reported receiving a suicidal text from her daughter. Officers located her and she told them she did not plan to harm herself.
A caller said a male tried to buy liquor using his dad’s checkbook, and she refused him.
At 10:45 p.m. a caller reported fireworks between Nicole Drive and the Channel Club.
May 26
At 1:33 a.m. an officer made contact with a driver on HPR going 4 mph or so with vehicle flashers turned on. The driver said the vehicle was being taken to Juneau to be serviced.
At 2 a.m. a lodge on Katlian Street said an intoxicated man was trying to fight. He left before officers arrived.
A liquor store reported a shoplifter.
At 11 a.m. a man was reported acting strangely and smoking something on Eagle Beach. An officer determined the man just having a bad day.
A bar signed a trespass notice.
A caller on O’Cain Street said someone had knocked the side of their house and broken the gate leading to their door.
At 10:36 p.m. a caller reported something in the water off the 4300 block of HPR. Officers couldn’t determine what the object was, possibly an overturned boat or a whale. It disappeared from view.
May 27
Police arrested a man behind Centennial Hall on a warrant, and found a weapon on him.
A resident said he traded his vehicle for a generator and later found out the person didn’t own the generator. Police said it was a civil issue.
A woman seen wailing on New Archangel Street was found to have been hit in the face. EMS was called.
A caller said his boat sank at a private dock, possibly due to vandalism.
At 8:41 p.m. a 911 caller requesting help for an unknown issue on Andrews Street. An ambulance took a person to the hospital.
At 11:54 p.m. a man was reported arguing with staff and others in a bar. He received a warning, and agreed to head home.
May 28
At 1:14 a.m. a man asked for help getting into his apartment building. He said his girlfriend usually let him in but she wasn’t answering her phone.
At 6:15 a.m. police made an arrest after responding to a report of a man kicking and beating on the side of a vehicle with a woman inside.
Sitka Police
Joseph Williams, 42, was charged Saturday with violating conditions of release by drinking alcohol.
Patrick O’Brien, 26, was arrested Saturday on a Juneau trooper warrant charging him with failure to comply with conditions of probation for an original charge of criminal mischief in the third degree.
Jarred Davidson, 25, was charged Saturday with three counts of assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence.
Kyla Young, 22, was charged Sunday with driving under the influence.
Zachary M. Ison, 32, was arrested Monday on a Juneau trooper warrant, charging him with failing to appear for trial call on an original charge of making a false report or giving false information.
Derek Daly, 20, was remanded Monday for probation violations.
Ryan Travelstead, 25, was charged this morning with assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence, and criminal mischief in the third degree, domestic violence.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Friday, one Sunday, and three on Monday.
