Activities Fair
Dear Editor: This past Saturday a group of folks who work with youths held a Summer Activities Fair at Blatchley Middle School. They provided parents a “one-stop-shop” to browse through many of the summer programs that are offered here. Based on the number of positive comments I heard, I think our idea was a success!
Of course, it could never have happened without the enthusiasm and support of the folks who brought this together, so I would like to thank the Sitka School District and especially Laura Rodgers of Blatchley Middle School for her critical support. A heartfelt “Thank You” also goes out to people representing the Sitka Studio of Dance, Kronos Titan Ninja Training, Sitka Gymnastics, Sitka Cirque, PEAK, Kenwa Karate, Ventures, Sitka Sound Science Center, Sitka Fine Arts Camp, 4-H, and the Sitka Pool.
And a big thank you to all the parents and young people who came to our first Activities Fair. I hope you found some fun things to keep you learning and having fun this summer!
If we missed you, know that we plan on doing an Activities Fair twice a year - once before school is out, and once before school starts!
