Police Blotter
Sitka police logged the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
May 6
At 6:49 p.m. a caller reported being followed by a bear on the Heart Lake Trail Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. It followed the hikers closely for a good portion of the way down the trail before it stopped, the caller said.
May 7
At 12:13 a.m. a caller said three juvenile females had taken off from a facility with their backpacks. Since they’re not from Sitka the caller said it wasn’t known where they’d go. Officers were advised.
Sitka Police
Jai Jeffries-Hamar, 39, was charged with driving under the influence late Monday night, and cited for driving with a revoked license.
Grand Jury
A Sitka grand jury Thursday indicted Francis Tagulao Morse, 51, on a charge of sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree. He is accused of making sexual contact with a person who was 13, 14, or 15 years of age and at least four years younger than he, a felony class C offense, in September 2018. Bail was set at $5,000.

Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 9:29 a.m., 10:52 a.m., 2:44 p.m. and 9:51 p.m. Monday, and 1:41 a.m. today.
