Police Blotter
Sitka police logged the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
May 7
At 7:28 a.m. the animal control officer received a report a deer was in the lower ballfield on Kimsham Street and might be injured. The ACO shooed it out of the field.
At 8:20 a.m. a caller asked for a civil assist while he collects his belongings per court order. A time was set up.
A business in the 300 block of Lincoln Street said a white spray-painted van had been parked by the business for more than a week without moving. Dispatch attempted to call the registered owner but the phone number was no longer in service.
A North Face hoodie and keys on a black lanyard were reported lost.
At 2:32 p.m. 911 callers said a Jeep had gone through a barricade and into a metal fence at the basketball court on Lincoln Street across from the SJ campus. A man was taken to a hospital.
Five inflatable bumpers were reported stolen from a slip at Crescent Habor. The owner put the value at about $100.
A resident reported an email scam from someone claiming to be her realtor and asking her to wire money. Her realtor said the call was not from them. The resident wanted the incident documented so others could see it. Police advised her to call IC3.gov.
At 4 p.m. a caller said a 13-year-old had fallen off his bike at 300 Monastery and was bleeding. EMS responded.
At 7:26 p.m. a caller said a man believed to be intoxicated was being loud at the library. An officer responded, and the man had quieted down. At 7:47 p.m. the caller said the man had become belligerent while being escorted out of the library. The officer returned and talked to him, and the man agreed to leave the area.
At 11:46 p.m. a caller reported seeing a “dirty looking” man carrying a lot of stuff on Sirstad Street toward Sitka High, and was concerned he might be camping in the area. Officers were advised.
May 8
At 12:16 a.m. a caller on Kelly Street reported hearing banging at the side of the house. Officers found no signs of activity there.
At 1:31 a.m. a caller in the 3500 block of HPR said a dog had started barking about 30 minutes before and awakened her. An officer talked to the dog’s owners, who said they had let the dog out then fallen asleep waiting for it to finish its business. The dog was taken back inside and quieted down.

Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 10:41 a.m., 2;35 p.m. and 4:01 p.m. Tuesday.
