Prom Thanks
Dear Editor: On April 29, Sitka High School hosted its annual junior/senior prom at the beautiful Odess Theatre at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp. It was a wonderful night filled with fantastic music provided by Joe Montagna and his band in addition to the legendary DJ Andrew Hames.
The theme for the evening was ‘‘Café Terrace at Night,’’ featuring an atmosphere complete with trees covered in Christmas lights, chocolate- dipped fruits, pretzels and Rice Crispy treats, exquisite macarons made by Dan Carr, and rustic French accents.
The Sitka High prom committee wishes to deeply thank the Sitka community for its support of the dance. We would like to extend a special thanks to the faculty and administration of Sitka High for their assistance in ensuring that everything ran smoothly, to the numerous parent volunteers who gave their time, to Officer Cranford of the Sitka Police Department for dedicating his time, to Mary Boose and Paul McGlew from SFAC for facilitating the use of Odess Theatre, to Bobbi Jordan for taking a copious amount of awesome photos, and all of the wonderful chaperones. We are looking forward to next year! Thank you.

Thank You, CGSWA
Dear Editor: The Baranof Elementary School Parent Advisory Committee would like to thank the U.S. Coast Guard Spouses’ and Women’s Association for their generous financial contribution to the free book give away.
Each year, parent volunteers organize two book giveaways for each student at Baranof. PAC believes that books play an essential role in a child’s development and that it is very important that Sitka children have the opportunity to bring home books of their very own. The money the CGSWA contributed will buy books for this program. Thanks again, CGSWA, for your support!
