Thank You, USCGSWA
Dear Editor: Parent volunteers at Baranof Elementary School would like to thank the Coast Guard Spouses’ and Women’s Association of Sitka for their extremely generous contribution to Reading is Fundamental.
The money donated will be used to purchase books. Twice each school year, parent volunteers give away a free book to every student at Baranof Elementary School.
We are excited to giveaway these books to encourage children to become great readers! By empowering children with literacy and reading opportunities we are opening doors to allow every child to live his or her dream, creating a better future for Sitka’s youths and we couldn’t do this without the support of the Coast Guard Spouses’ and Women’s Association of Sitka.

Sitka Health Fair
Dear Editor: I would like to publicly thank all the wonderful community volunteers and local businesses that generously contributed to this year’s Sitka Health Fair on May 5.
The Health Fair could not have been a success without the dedication, and hard work, of so many volunteers put forth to help our fellow Sitka community members! Thanks to the many exhibitors that participated; our community gained valuable resources and knowledge.
Much gratitude also goes to Sea Mart Quality Foods and AC Lakeside, for your food donations that made many people smile, and especially appreciated after a night of fasting for blood work.
I am honored to work alongside the many generous local organizations and health professionals here in Sitka.
Gunalch`eesh! Thank you!

Family Fun Days
Dear Editor: The Hames Wellness Center would like to thank all our local community sponsors and participants who have helped make our much-loved Family Fun Days possible over the last winter months. Specifically, we would like to extend a big thank you to the Hames Corporation, Sitkans Against Family Violence, and Sitka Counseling for co-hosting several of the Family Fun Days. Without their dedicated partnership, these events would not have been possible. Their generosity has contributed immensely to making our community a safe and enjoyable place.
Their participation, support, and sponsorship have helped make these events special by not only promoting health to all those living in Sitka, but also by creating a free event that the entire community can enjoy. Even through the darkening days of winter, families were able to enjoy activities such as the climbing wall, bouncy castle, gym games and more. Here in Sitka, we don’t let the weather keep us from what truly matters: spending time with loved ones.
We would also like to thank each of our dedicated volunteers who helped run the climbing wall and Family Fun Day activities each month – we truly could not have done it without them!
Thank you, again, to our sponsors and all Family Fun Day participants for their help in contributing to Sitka’s loving and family-friendly environment. We hope to see you all again for our next Family Fun Day in October!
