Memorial to be Held Thursday For Richard D. Temple, Age 74

A memorial service for Richard Duane "Rick" Temple, a Sitka resident for more than 30 years, will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the First Baptist Church, 514 Halibut Point Road.

Rick died May 29 at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center, at the age of 74.

He was born on Feb. 24, 1951, in Endicott, New York, and graduated in 1969 from Tioga Central High School in Tioga Center, New York. An athlete, he was a member of the varsity football, basketball and track teams, and a member of the Varsity Club.

He served in the U.S. Army, and then moved to Anchorage in 1980. He lived there and in Ketchikan before coming to Sitka in the early 1990s. He worked in construction and as a contractor, and received a license as a personal trainer.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Temple, and a brother, Bill Temple.

He is survived by his sisters Sandi Mastracchia of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Debbie Sherwood and Cheryl Noyes and brother Tom Temple, all of Owego, New York; and brother Larry Temple of Palm Beach, Florida.

Several nieces and nephews also survive.
