Former Sitkan

Mike Proctor

Dies in Kenai

Former Sitkan Michael L. Proctor passed away at his home in Kenai on July 21, 2015, at the age of 45.

Mike was born in Sitka November 9, 1969.  He had moved to Kenai, but  always considered Sitka his home.

At the time of his death he was working at Christian Ridge Construction, building log homes. It was a job he loved and in which he excelled.

Mike loved music, and was an outstanding drummer. He also taught himself to play the keyboard and guitar. He and the band Kold Knights played in many of the venues in Sitka.

Mike loved the ocean and, in general, the outdoors. He was often seen “flying by” in a Boston Whaler, that he had been running since he was 6.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Jack Proctor, and  his sisters Kelly Proctor McKeirnan of Kenai, and Connie Proctor Banning of Grayland, Wash.

He is survived by his mother, Dotty Aragon of Kenai; his brother, Ron Proctor of Anchorage; and his sisters, Debbie Proctor Carlen and husband Cedric of Grants Pass, Ore. and Vikki Proctor McLain and husband Mac of Coos Bay, Ore.

He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to name, but always loved.

Mike will always be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and loving nature.

“He may be gone, but he’ll never be forgotten,” his family said.

“Mike, if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.”
