Benefit for Teen
Dear Editor: Sitkans! Many of us are familiar with our amazing local artist, teacher, mentor and friend, Rachel Moreno. She has represented Sitka as a cultural heritage guide/ambassador in the tourism industry and is locally known for teaching and making Quaspeqs, Tlingit robes, beadwork, tináas, baked goods and fry bread. She is the first to volunteer to do a fry bread fundraiser when there has been an accident or a community member in need. Over the years, Rachel has also served in several capacities with Sitka Tribe of Alaska.
Now is the time when we can lend her our support! Rachel’s son Ty is in serious need of two lung operations. They will be traveling south for the proper medical procedures, with follow-up and recovery time there in Seattle. These are major expenses and we can help.
Please come to the fry bread and Indian taco fundraiser at the ANB Founders Hall this Saturday, 11 a.m.  until sold out! Rachel’s fry bread is delicious, fluffy and crispy. Stop in to enjoy or pick up! Donations welcome! Venmo: @Rachel-Moreno-41
