Thanksgiving Dinner
Dear Editor: The Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 1 and the Alaska Native Sisterhood Camp 4 have been hosting the annual holiday dinners for over 40 years at the historical ANB Founders Hall at 235 Katlian Street.
This year, volunteers are needed to set up, adopt turkeys to bake at home, set up for the dinner, and tear down at the end of the day. We finance these dinners by local donations from the community. Anyone wishing to donate may send your check to Community Holiday Dinners, ANB, c/o D. Brincefield, 235 Katlian Street.
The next planning meeting for the dinner will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m. at the ANB Founders Hall.
Volunteer response and donations this year have been much lower than last year. Your support and assistance will be greatly appreciated.
These annual dinners bring the entire community together to gather in thanks and celebration, where all are welcome. I know we all want to see these dinners be a success this year. Many thanks.

WhaleFest
Dear Editor: A quick two bits: This year’s WhaleFest, the 20th, was over the top great: speakers, The WhaleFest Market, WhaleFest Grind, student art, auction art, and the overall organization. The entire whale – baleen to flukes – what a pleasure to get to participate. The other thing of note was how nice it was in the newly remodeled Harrigan Hall. Seeing the new technology, how smooth, at least to my eyes, the staff handled its first whole building event. I believe the majority of Sitkans will be pleased by the space and its staff. Thank you.

Trump
Dear Editor: When I realized Tuesday that Trump was being elected as president of United States I felt a shock of terror. Then I felt really depressed and then I got angry. The next day I realized that I was experiencing all the steps of grief. I am still scared of the things that he was threatened to do. I suggest that community-minded people should be prepared to help minority groups and special needs people who will be impacted if he decides to fulfill his stated agenda. We need to help each other survive the next four years.
