Coast Guard Rescue
Dear Editor: There are not enough words to express my gratitude to the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Sitka for picking up my son and crew and returning them safely home. Thank you for your service and dedication to saving lives in this unforgiving and beautiful place we call home.
P.S.: Thank you also to the anonymous person who left me the beautiful roses.

Being Thankful
Dear Editor: I am thankful to our environment for attempting to provide for us after all that we have done to it, thus I am thankful to the Sitka Conservation Society and Sitka Sound Science Center. I am thankful to all the people who wear masks to protect others from a disease process that we are all tired of, thus I thank AC Lakeside for caring about us and the City of Sitka Assembly for showing leadership. I thank the Raptor Center and Fortress of the Bear for caring about animals. I am thankful to the health care workers who have worked long hours in a dangerous crisis situation. I am thankful to Sitka Trail Works and the U.S. Forest Service for providing recreational trails for us. I am thankful to the Salvation Army for feeding and taking care of the homeless and others who are in need. I also would like to thank SAFV for providing education to the youths of Sitka to stop the cycle of domestic violence. Educators are having to work harder now, while wearing masks and trying to stay safe in their classrooms, so thank you. I thank all people who work to fight against racism and any sort of bigotry. Thank you to the Daily Sitka Sentinel for the free papers you provided the community and for your keeping us informed. I would like to thank all those in the future who have the foresight to finally get the police department a new building. No one is listening now to the horrors of that building, but maybe someday someone will listen and I thank them. Thank you,
Lorraine Inez Lil, Sitka
