November 2, 2021, Police Blotter

Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

November 1

At 12:32 p.m. a man was reported to have fallen off a bench outside the library. An officer checked on him and he said he was enjoying the sun. He was deemed able to care for himself.

A cell phone was found on the SJ campus. Police took it to the station.

At 3:48 p.m. Centennial Hall staff reported a man had fallen outside. Officers spoke to the man, who said he was waiting for a family member to pick him up.

A woman said she’d returned to her home near the end of HPR and found a baggie with a white substance in it. Officers tested the substance and found it was cocaine. An investigation is being made.

A man said a dog had bitten him but officers found no evidence of a bite.

A property owner on Granite Creek Road said he’d encountered a man on the premises and wanted police to trespass him.

November 2

At 12:35 a.m. a woman said a bear had come into her yard in the 1700 block of Edgecumbe Drive and eaten her grandson’s rabbit. The bear was gone when officers arrived.

At 2:56 a.m. a caller on Granite Creek Road reported a bear had tried to get into a bear-proof trash can. It left and went into the woods.

 

Sitka Police

Vaughn Dalton, 26, was arrested Monday on a probation violation.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls Monday at 1:40 p.m., 7:13 p.m. and 8:32 p.m.

At 8:32 p.m. an engine was sent to the FAA office for what turned out to be a false alarm.
