Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
November 24
At 12:25 a.m. bear activity was reported on Andrew P. Hope Street. Officers found no bears in the area.
A caller said a neighbor keeps threatening to kill his pets. He was advised of his options.
At 12:48 p.m. a bear was reported dragging trash into the woods on Rudolph Walton Drive. Fish and Game was notified.
At 2:53 p.m. a juvenile was reported to have vandalized property on Jarvis Street. The juvenile probation officer was advised.
A dog attack was reported at the Baranof trail head. The animal control officer is investigating.
At 3:34 p.m. a downtown bartender asked to have a man who had been making threats and causing a disruption to be trespassed from the bar.
An iPhone was found at 400 Lake Street.
At 6:52 p.m. a caller on Indian River Road reported hearing what sounded like three gunshots.
At 8:44 p.m. three male juveniles were detained over thefts on boats at Sealing Cove.
November 25
At 2:13 p.m. a possible problem with an electric pole was reported in the 200 block of Lance Drive
At 10:10 p.m. a fallen tree was reported in the roadway at SMC and Thimbleberry Road. Police put out traffic cones until DOT could respond.
November 26
At 5:17 a.m. a bear was reported walking in a parking lot at Indian River Road and SMC. Officers were advised.
At 11:34 a.m. a vehicle was reported to have hit a building in the 200 block of Harbor Drive. Officers found a damaged vehicle in the area.
At 11:33 p.m. a noise complaint on Burkhart Drive was filed.
At 11:54 p.m. a caller visiting from out of town reported a dispute with his girlfriend. Assault charges are being forwarded.
November 27
At 10:12 a.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on her son. He was found to be OK.
At 12:10 p.m. and 3:46 p.m. a woman reported a dispute with her ex.
November 28
At 12:49 a.m. a woman reported receiving multiple calls from a private phone regarding payment of money. She was advised to contact the phone company.
At 8:04 a.m. a caller said her boyfriend had beaten her up. She was taken to the hospital, and police are investigating.
At 8:50 a.m. a caller reported she had slid into another vehicle, causing a dent, near Sitka High.
At 10:38 a.m. a caller asked for a welfare check on her children’s dad, who had gone to pick up the kids from sledding but hadn’t shown up and the kids walked home. The dad returned home shortly afterward.
A 911 caller said her mother was abusive. Police are investigating.
A man who is camping in the woods said someone had stolen his hand-warmers. Police are investigating.
At 5:07 p.m. a driver said she’d hit a deer in the 2100 block of HPR and it was badly injured. The deer was dispatched and turned over to Mt. Edgecumbe High School.
At 6:20 p.m. kids were reported sledding in the roadway on Crabapple Drive and HPR. Officers told them to desist.
November 29
At 2:52 p.m. a shed was reported on fire at 2716 HPR. No one was injured, and the fire was under control in about an hour, police said.
Sitka Police
Jack L. Joseph, 32, was charged Wednesday with violating conditions of release.
Leonty Williams, 30, was charged Wednesday with a probation violation.
Scott Delong, 59, was charged Sunday with assault in the fourth degree.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Wednesday, none on Thanksgiving Day (!), one on Friday, six on Saturday and four on Sunday.
