Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

November 4

A caller said trash was being put out a day before trash day and bears were getting into it. Officers talked to a house owner who said he would advise his tenants of the problem.

At 10:26 a.m. a caller reported trash was in the roadway on Cascade Street. An officers spoke with residents, who were to pick up the trash.

An officer gave verbal warnings to drivers in the 1100 block of HPR, Harbor Mountain Road and HPR, and the 600 block of SMC whose vehicles were missing front license plates.

An officer stopped a driver whose license had been revoked, and had him park his vehicle and walk home.

An out-of-town caller reported getting harassing phone calls, apparently from Sitka.

A gold necklace with a cross and a child’s photo that apparently had been found downtown was turned in to police.

A Katlian Street employer asked to have a terminated employee trespassed.

An anonymous caller said a business in the 800 block of HPR was not observing a masking rule. Police deemed it a civil violation.

A man reported several items had been stolen from the back of his truck during the hour he’d left it parked at the Starrigavan boat launch.

At 3:47 p.m. a dog was reported running at large near Back Beach, getting into traffic. The animal control officer caught it.

At 4:28 p.m. litter was reported being left by people eating in Swan Lake park.

At 4:34 p.m. birds were reported getting into trash in the 1300 block of SMC. An officer spoke with residents.

A check was found on the ground at Marine Street and Tlinget Way. Police contacted the owner.

At 9:49 p.m. a dispute was reported on Darrin Drive. Officers spoke to two people, neither of whom wished to press charges.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 3:46 p.m. and 7:53 p.m. Thursday, and two this morning.
