Lutheran Pie Sale

Dear Editor: Once again, thanks to everyone who took part in the annual pie and dessert sale on Alaska Day in the fellowship hall of Sitka Lutheran Church.

Besides the bakers, there were the planners, the set-up crew, the cutters and servers, the cashiers, and the clean-up crew.

Thanks, also, to the Alaska Day Committee who included our annual pie/dessert sale in the Event Schedule, to Sitka Bottling for saving cardboard flats for our use, and the Daily Sitka Sentinel, radio stations KCAW and KIFW for the PSAs.

We think the sale of such tasty offerings began in 1994 or 1995 when we were raising funds to replace the stained glass windows following the 1993 fire in our building. Whenever it started, it has become a tradition to anticipate. Let the countdown to π 10.18.20 begin!

This year, during a time of an unprecedented number of disasters around the globe, the proceeds from the bake sale will be donated to the Lutheran Disaster Response through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
