Police Blotter
    Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
November 6
A resident sought a criminal trespass warning against a man.
The ACO picked up a black Lab at Katlian Street and HPR.
At 10:20 a.m. a vehicle bumped into another, with no damage, in a grocery store parking lot.
At 1 p.m. a 911 caller said a man was screaming at a store employee. He ran when she picked up the phone to call police.
At 1:20 p.m. a scooter was stolen from Smith Street. A resident was charged with theft.
At 1:37 p.m. a caller said a man was swimming in circles a half mile offshore of the 4000 block of HPR. A short time later, the caller said he’d gotten better binocular and now could see the swimmer had flippers and a wetsuit and appeared to be just fine.
Police received a report a man was being assaulted by his girlfriend.
A social services worker asked for a welfare check on a child whose parents might be using drugs.
At 8 p.m. a social services worker said a child left school without permission and hadn’t been in contact with the guardian since 4 p.m. The caller was concerned the child might be drinking at a friend’s house.
At 7:21 p.m. a report of drug abuse was received.
At 8:38 p.m. a caller said an intoxicated man in a black hat walked into a moving vehicle on Katlian Street. The man wasn’t injured, the caller said.
At 9:34 p.m. a man yelling and scaring staff and customers in a grocery store was contacted by police outside the store. He received a criminal trespass notice.
At 9:37 p.m. a truck canopy was reported stolen. The owner was told the top came off the vehicle near the police station, and he said he would retrieve it.
November 7
At 2:20 a.m. a man loitering in the closed deli of a grocery store was advised of the complaint and told he could end up criminally trespassed from the store if he didn’t leave.
   
Sitka Police
Alex S. Robinson, 30, was charged Wednesday with motor vehicle theft in the first degree, misconduct involving weapons in the third and criminal trespass in the first degree.
Cynthia J. Bean, 45, was charged Wednesday with assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence.

In Court
Terry A. Carlson Jr., 19, was sentenced to four days on each of two counts of violating conditions of probation. The jail time is to be served consecutively. One count of criminal trespass in the second was dismissed.
Gunner M. Daoust, 21, was sentenced to one day for violating conditions of release, and 10 days, with 9 suspended, for criminal trespass in the second degree. He is to complete counseling and will be on probation for a year. A charge of resisting or interfering with an arrest was dismissed.

Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at Wednesday.
       
Coast Guard
A helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Sitka on Wednesday afternoon medevacked a 75-year-old Angoon man with septic shock to Juneau. The Coast Guard noted that the trip normally takes an hour, but poor visibility prompted the crew to take a different route, adding two hours of flight time. The patient arrived in stable condition, and was taken to the hospital, the Coast Guard said.

Grand Jury
A Sitka grand jury today charged Norman K. Paul Jr., 44, with assault in the third degree, a class C felony.
He is accused of placing another person in fear of “imminent serious physical injury by means of a dangerous instrument” on Oct. 30.
