Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
November 8
At 7:51 a.m. a complaint was filed about trash on Dodge Circle that attracts bears. Officers will monitor the situation.
Between 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. officers issued speeding tickets to three drivers.
At 9:11 a.m. a caller reported a bear had dragged garbage in the 600 block of Monastery Street.
At 9:16 a.m. a caller reported a sleeping or injured bear lying in the 1500 block of Edgecumbe Drive. Police found the bear was dead, and had been shot. Officers removed the carcass.
At 10 a.m. a caller said a neighbor had threatened to kill his cat because it messed with the neighbor’s free-roaming rabbits.
At 11:33 a.m. a man without ID was reported trying to board a plane. Officers confirmed his identity to the airline, and the man was allowed to board.
At 1:01 a.m. a dead chicken was found at the school bus stop in the 1100 block of Edgecumbe Drive. The animal control officer scooped it up.
At 2 p.m. a caller asked to have two intoxicated persons removed from a home. Officers advised of options.
A man said his dog had been attacked by another dog on the Cross Trail last Thursday, and he hadn’t made a report at the time. But he had gotten more information since then and now wanted to report it.
A driver reported having a fender-bender the day before in the 1800 block of HPR, and now was feeling some pain from possible injuries.
At 5:58 p.m. the library reported a man seated on a bench inside was refusing to leave at closing time. Officers talked to him and he agreed to leave.
At 6:54 p.m. a caller reported hearing gunshots in the Rands Drive area. Officers were unable to find a source.
An incident of drunkenness was reported in the 4500 block of SMC at 7:07 p.m.
November 9
A dog was reported running at large on Alice Loop Road. An officer took it to the animal shelter.
At 1:15 a.m. a vehicle was reported left parked at Sandy Beach.
At 4:45 a.m. a vehicle parked on Cathedral Way was cited for violating a traffic regulation prohibiting parking there between 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays.
