Police Blotter
    The following calls were received by police by 8 a.m. today:
October 12
    A caller reported fraudulent use of her credit card.
    At 11:27 a.m. a caller reported what appeared to be the cut off tip of a finger in the sink in the women’s public restrooms on Harbor Drive. Officers found the piece to be hard candy.
    At 11:46 a.m. a downtown business signed criminal trespass formers against four individuals.
    A Seward Street business signed a criminal trespass against an individual.
    A caller told police a bike had been at Eliason Harbor for more than a month, and provided a license number. Police left a message for the owner.
    At 4 p.m. a Seward Street store said a man had come in the store three times, just looking around, then was hanging out outside. Officers responded but did not find a man fitting the description.
    At 5 p.m. a caller asked for an ambulance for his grandpa.
    A caller said someone had set up a hammock in his yard and something was in it. An officer took custody of the hammock, along with an air mattress and a pocket knife.
    A caller said a driver who smelled of alcohol had gotten into a vehicle, with two children and beer in it, and had left a ballfield. Officers found the driver, who blew .000 on a PBT and reported just having an argument with a family.
    An officer picked up a caller to do a civil standby.
    At 6:25 p.m. a caller said a bear sow and two cubs were in the river near the bridge, in Totem Park. They weren’t being aggressive, just dining on fish, the caller said.
    A hound dog was reported lost in the Seaview Heights area at 7:11 p.m. It was reported found the next day.
    At 9 p.m. a caller said residents in the 2400 block of HPR were setting off fireworks. An officer responded and stayed in the area for several minutes but wasn’t able to locate the fireworks.
    At 9:19 p.m. a caller reported fireworks being set off on Lake Street. An officer responded but heard no fireworks being set off.
    October 13
    At 12:33 a.m. a caller said a man was lying motionless on the ground and a woman was standing over him, on Shelikof Way. Officers contacted the two. The man, who provided a PBT of .351, was taken to a hospital and the woman was placed in the care of her parents.
    At 1:14 a.m. dispatch observed an argument outside the PD. A woman came into the station and said she wanted to turn herself in, as she drinks alcohol. The other party had agreed to take the woman in for the night but she became verbally agitated. The woman was held in 12-hour protective custody pending sobriety.
    At 9:25 a.m. a caller reported a bear in the river in Totem Park dining on fish.
    At 10 a.m. a caller said his 12-year-old black Lab had taken off the previous night, in the 1900 block of HPR. It was found later.
    At 12:44 p.m. a caller said a small brown dog had just defecated in her yard, on Shelikof Way. The caller didn’t know whose dog it was but said it had been running around the area a lot lately.
    At 1:59 p.m. a King Air plane was reported coming in on one engine at the airport. The pilot hadn’t declared an emergency but DOT was standing by. Fire and police responded. The plane landed safely.
    At 2 p.m. a 911 caller said her keys wouldn’t unlock her vehicle, in a grocery store parking lot, and her 10-month-old child was inside. She called back saying she’d found another key and was able to unlock the vehicle.
    A caller on Siginaka Way asked to speak to an officer regarding a theft.
    A bike found near Sitka National Cemetery was turned in.
    At 8:26 p.m. a caller said a driver in a Chevy van was backing into driveways on Pherson, Verstovia and Sirstad streets. The driver showed police documents stating she’s conducting census reports.
     October 14
    At 1:36 a.m. a 911 caller said a teen was complaining of difficulty breathing. He was taken to a hospital.
    At 12:49 p.m. a black Lab and a blue heeler were reported running across SMC in the 2000 block.
    At 4:14 p.m. a caller said a driver was stopping and starting then threw a small shot bottle out the window and went up Kimsham toward Edgecumbe Drive after a several minute delay. Officers were advised.
    At 4:40 p.m. a caller in the 2700 block of HPR said a suspicious person was lurking around a trailer court. Officers spoke with the caller who gave a description of the man, who had left the area.
    A caller asked police to take away her dog after it bit a child.
    A woman turned in a bike found in the bushes at Moller Field. Police checked the serial number and found it had been reported stolen several months ago. Dispatch contacted the owners, who said they would come right down.
    At 7 p.m. a caller said her brother saw a bear in Totem Park while on a walk.
    A caller complained about illegal parking on Barracks Street.
    At 9:53 p.m. police received multiple 911 callers said a female appeared about to jump off O’Connell Bridge. They said she was in the middle area of the bridge, about half-way up the railing. Officers talked to her, and she was placed in protective custody for a 72-hour hold, pending a mental evaluation.


Sitka Police
    Byron P. Kashevarof, 34, was charged Friday with violating conditions of release by having contact with a person he had been ordered by the courts not to do, and by consuming alcohol. He also was charged with unlawful contact.
    Michael S. Giron, 47, was charged with disorderly conduct Friday. A charge of assault is to be forwarded.
    Glen Roland Jones, 28, was charged with violating conditions of release Friday. He registered positive for meth and opiates, records state.
    Linda Denise Marvin, 46, was charged Sunday with assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence.
    Zachary A.S. Loewen, 28, was charged with misconduct involving a weapon (a pipe bomb) in the third degree




Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 9:54 a.m., 11:40 a.m., 1:40 p.m., 4:14 p.m. and 5:06 p.m. Friday; 12:55 a.m. 8:57 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 8:57 a.m., 12:30 p.m. 4:55 p.m. and 11:29 p.m. Saturday; 1:37 a.m., 1:10 p.m., 7:55 p.m. Sunday, and 4:08 a.m. today.
    Two engines and an ambulance were sent to 605 Airport Road at 2 p.m. Saturday when a plane with one engine was reported coming in. It landed safely.
