Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
October 14
At 12:26 a.m. a vehicle was reported left running at Blatchley Middle School. Officers found the vehicle belonged to janitors.
At 3:32 a.m. a man was reported to have thrown a rock at a woman walking near McDonald’s, injuring her shoulder. At 3:32 a.m. he was reported to have thrown rocks at his own home.
At 4:10 a.m. a man said he’d been punched at a bar. He declined to press charges or get medical treatment.
At 5:08 a.m. a bear was reported getting into trash on Cascade Street.
At 5:21 a.m. trash was reported scattered in the 1100 block of Edgecumbe Drive.
At 5:55 a.m. a bear and her two cubs were reported in the trash container at the transfer station on Jarvis Street.
At 7:24 a.m. a driver reported hitting a deer near Halibut Point Recreation Area. The animal’s remains were taken to the Raptor Center.
At 7:55 a.m. a bear was reported to have gotten into trash and strewn it on the roadway in the 1000 block of Edgecumbe Drive.
At 8:03 a.m. a caller reported a bear had damaged the side of a house in the 2800 block of SMC.
At 9:14 a.m. residents on Sunset Drive reported trash was being put out early.
At 2:53 p.m. a dog was reported to have been running at large for the last couple of days on Harbor Mountain Road. The animal control officer took it to the shelter.
At 4:40 p.m. an incident of drunkenness was reported in the 800 block of HPR.
At 5:45 p.m. a caller said a dog appeared to be injured in the 3100 block of HPR. A veterinarian was contacted.
At 11 p.m. a caller on Mikele Street said a large bear had been in the area for about two weeks and asked for help scaring it off.
At 11:10 p.m. a big bear was reported getting into trash cans in the 2900 block of HPR.
October 15
At 3:54 a.m. a bear call came in from 4777 HPR.
Sitka Police
Peggy Linberg, 50, was charged Thursday with assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence, and violating conditions of release.
Bryan Joseph, 21, was charged Thursday with criminal mischief in the third degree, domestic violence.
Hunter Hatmaker, 19, was charged Thursday with violating conditions of release and driving with a revoked license.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department received four ambulance calls and, at 1:10 a.m., a report that a smoke alarm had sounded at Sweetland Hall on the SJ campus.
