Police Blotter
Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
October 16
At 7:02 a.m. an officer was requested at Sitka High after a custodian scared a bear away from the school’s garbage container.
At 7:32 a.m. a large bear was seen swimming in Swan Lake, headed toward Moller field.
At 12:18 p.m. a caller said a man was seen walking through some bushes and into a boat parked near Kaagwaantaan Street. Officers found the man owned the boat in question.
A man said someone pulled the cord on his liferaft Saturday or Sunday, causing $1,200 in damage. He said he had a suspect but no proof.
Raptor Center staff reported someone camping on the property. Police said there was nothing to identify the trespasser.
A dog ran after a boy trying to deliver newspapers on Harbor Mountain Road at 5 p.m.
A man lying in front of a bar. was found to be able to care for himself. He had cut his head but didn’t need medical care. He told police he was going to a hotel and was advised to stop drinking for the night.
At 6:40 p.m. a man was reported sleeping at the library. He was awakened, and left with his girlfriend.
A woman asked if police would remind her husband of the protective order regarding their daughter. Police talked to those involved about the court order and their options, and gave them copies of the protective order.
A bear was reported seen at Viking Way trash containers at 9:05 and 9:40 p.m.
At 11:55 p.m. a woman said two men seemed to want to start a fight with her and her three friends leaving a bar on Katlian Street. The friends didn’t want to pursue charges, just wanted to be left alone, they told police. The men left before police arrived.
October 17
At 2 a.m. a ambulance was requested for a woman having a possible medical emergency at Crescent Harbor.
At 4 a.m. a bear was reported getting into garbage on Valhalla Drive.

Sitka Fire Department dispatched an ambulance at 1:27 p.m. Wednesday, and 1:57, 4:26 and 8:55 a.m. today.
