Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

October 14

At 1 a.m. a verbal warning about a bear attractant was given to a resident on Wolff Drive; at 2:23 a.m. a citation for having a bear attractant was issued in the 1600 block of SMC; and at 2:37 a.m. a warning was issued on Spruce Street and another to the landlord of the residence.

Warnings about having bear attractants were issued at 3:36 a.m. on Kaagwaantaan; at 3:41 a.m. and 3:43 a.m. on Marine Street; at 4 a.m. on Andrew P. Hope Street; at 4:19 a.m. on Versa Place; and at 4:44 a.m. in the 700 block of Lake Street.

At 8:35 a.m. littering was reported in the 500 block of Monastery.

An animal call came in at 10:12 a.m. from Castle Hill.

A found property call came in from the 3400 block of HPR at 1 p.m.

At 3:50 p.m. a report of criminal trespassing came in from the 2000 block of SMC. Police are investigating.

A juvenile problem was reported at 3:58 p.m. from the 1700 block of HPR.

At 11:59 p.m. a caller reported scaring off a bear on Wolff Drive.

October 15

A report about a suspicious person came in at 12:48 a.m. from the 1800 block of HPR.

At 9:21 a.m. criminal mischief was reported in the 3300 block of HPR.

An animal call came in at 10 a.m. in the 200 block of Marine Street.

At 10:38 a.m. suspicious activity was reported in the 2100 block of HPR.

At 11:42 a.m. caller reported seeing someone in a vehicle throwing trash out the window, at Jeff Davis and Lincoln streets.

An animal call came in from the national park at 5:29 p.m.

At 8:21 p.m. suspicious activity was reported on Dodge Circle.

October 16

At 12:26 a.m. a bear was reported getting into trash at the national park visitor center. It was gone when police arrived.

At 5:19 a.m. a caller reported a bear on Cascade Street had been scared off.

At 5:19 p.m. a bear call came in from
Georgeson Loop.

Trespassing was reported at ANB Harbor at 6:43 p.m.

At 9 p.m. a report of a hit and run at the ANB Harbor parking lot was logged.

At 12:23 p.m. kids reported hearing loud noises near Keet Gooshi Heen elementary, and a vehicle leaving.

At 4 p.m. suspicious activity was reported near Blatchley.

At 5 p.m. fireworks were reported near Andrew P. Hope Street.

October 17

At 1 a.m. a person walking near DeGroff Street and Monastery reported seeing a bear in the area.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Friday; two ambulance calls and a false fire alarm Saturday; and four ambulance calls and one false fire alarm Sunday. 

 

Sitka Police

Darian Bliss, 32, was charged Sunday with misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fifth degree and theft in the fourth degree.

Sherry Binkie, 43, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence and violating conditions of  release.

David Skultka, 40, was charged Sunday with violating conditions of release.

Isaruo Gamez, 35, was charged Sunday with assault in the fourth degree.
