Police Blotter

Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

October 17

At 1 a.m. a person walking near DeGroff Street and Monastery reported seeing a bear in the area.

An animal call came in at 1:39 p.m. from the 700 block of HPR.

At 2 p.m. police assisted the Adult Probation Office.

At 8:40 p.m. a citizen was assisted in the 600 block of Monastery.

At 9:03 p.m. a caller said a woman’s coat was stolen at a downtown bar.

October 18

At 12:16 a.m. a citizen on Hollywood Way was assisted.

At 12:29 a.m. a caller reported a bear and her cub were in the Eberhardt Drive area. Officers did not find them.

At 12:31 p.m. a theft was reported at a downtown bank.

At 7:32 p.m. a welfare check was requested in the 400 block of Lake Street.

  

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received five ambulance calls Monday  and two on Tuesday.

At 11 p.m. Monday an overheated boiler at 901 Lincoln Street caused alarm but no fire. It was turned off. 

 

Sitka Police

Shawn Beauchamp, 26, was charged Tuesday with violating a protective order, and harassment in the second degree.
