Congratulations, ALFA
Dear Editor: It is with great pleasure that Alaska Conservation Foundation announces that the Alaska Longline Fishermen’s Association will receive our Lowell Thomas Jr. Award for Outstanding Achievements by a Conservation Organization on Oct. 3 at the Anchorage Museum.
ALFA is a recognized leader in Alaska fisheries conservation and management, and is an effective voice for sustainable, community-based fisheries at the national level. It engages fishermen and scientists in collaborative research and marine stewardship, combining the problem-solving genius of fishermen with the rigors of science. They amplify the voice of small-scale fishermen to promote resource stewardship and growing international awareness of the role community-based fishermen play in durable triple-bottom line solutions to complex challenges.
Hearty congratulations to ALFA. To read the AFLA’s wonderful story and of those of other awardees, please visit AlaskaConservation.org. Congratulations, ALFA!
