Membership Drive
Dear Editor: On behalf of everyone here at Raven Radio, I’d like to thank you for your support during our fall membership drive from Oct. 4 to Oct. 10. We are deeply thankful for the partnership we have with people all throughout Sitka and Southeast Alaska
I’m grateful for your time, your financial support, and your love for our radio community. This especially applies to everyone who volunteers at Raven Radio: we are so proud of your creativity, energy, and passion. You drive everything we do! Raven Radio is also fortunate to have an incredibly dedicated and talented staff. They call these “marathons” for a reason, and much of our success depends on their tireless efforts – thanks to Development Director Lily Wasserman, Operations Director Bryan Lovett, and Volunteer Coordinator Cara Crain. Our entire newsroom stepped in too, even as they covered elections throughout the region!
We learned at the outset of the pandemic that these drives are essentially social functions – and in order to keep our community safe, we incorporated solutions like inbound call centers and Zoom to seek support from our listeners. We learn more about safely managing our space with each membership drive, and I have to say: boy, have we missed all y’all being in the building!
Your patience and support throughout the pandemic has meant so much to us. You made it possible for us to focus on making some of the best radio heard in the U.S., despite the challenges so many still face.
In other news: as you have likely gathered, an in-person Stardust Ball is postponed another year. With the amount of planning necessary, we weren’t able to determine in time whether or not it would be safe to host a big party. Stay tuned for other exciting projects coming from us in the meantime! For now, we’re on the air and proud to share the sounds of Sitka with people, both near and far. Thank you for that!
