Police Blotter
The following calls were received by police by 8 a.m. today:
October 22
A man refusing to leave a social services agency picked up his belongings and left when police arrived. He was warned he would be trespassed if he was disrespectful again to staff.
At 4:51 p.m. police advised the harbor department that a vessel was low in the water at Crescent Harbor. The owner was notified.
A man called for an ambulance because he was choking.
A single gunshot was reported at 9:41 p.m. in the 3300 block of HPR. The caller said later it may have been fireworks. Police found nothing amiss in the neighborhood.
At 9:43 p.m. a resident reported a newer pickup was sitting outside a residence on Patterson Way. Police determined there may have been some misunderstanding.
At 10:32 p.m. a resident flagged down a police officer in the 2800 block of HPR to report that a bear sow and two cubs had gone into a residential area. Police saw the bears in a yard in the 2600 block of HPR and used sound to scare them farther into the woods.
October 23
A resident reported his red Marlboro backpack had been stolen around 1 a.m. outside the Crescent Harbor bathrooms. He estimated about $100 in groceries was inside, but nothing else of significance.

Sitka Fire Department dispatched ambulances at 1:05 p.m. and 6:21 p.m. Monday, and 4:01 a.m. today.
