    Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
October 24
    A woman who left the hospital against the advice of staff returned.
    At 7:49 a.m. a bicyclist reported being harassed by a motorist, who honked and yelled at her. She tried to explain to the driver that she was following proper cycling protocol, and he swore at her. She wanted the incident documented.
    A resident taking a shower at the laundromat reported hearing voices and was yelling The man was calm when officers arrived, and there was no sign of a crime.
    A woman trespassed from property returned to the property and left, police were told at 10:21 a.m.
    The harbor department asked for police help in contacting a citizen at the workfloat.
    Police talked to the mother of a student who had been absent. Officers found the student had been sick for three days.
    Keys attached to a lure were found at the shooting range.
    A man said a bear had followed him up Cascade Creek Road the previous night, and had come onto his porch where he kept a freezer chest.
    A skipper asked police to document a deckhand’s behavior, which included drinking and shooting up. She was removed, along with her belongings, by the skipper, who said he would contact the harbor department.
    At 3 p.m. a resident returned to a store where he had been caught stealing items. He paid for the items, and was served with a criminal trespass order.
    At 3:15 p.m. a store employee said a man who appeared to be intoxicated was wandering around the store, making people uncomfortable. The man left before officers arrived, but officers said they knew who he was.
    A woman who may have stolen a pair of glasses returned to the store, around 5 p.m. A criminal trespass was signed and served.
    A patient who left the hospital agreed to return, and was picked up by staff, around 7 p.m.
    The harbor department asked for help with a woman passed out in a restroom at 6:30 p.m. She was up shortly afterward, and harbor department staff said they would try to find another place for her to stay.
    People smoking pot in a laundromat at 7:30 p.m. were advised of the complaint and agreed to move along.
    A bear that knocked over an empty trash can left via a little trail at the end of Wachusetts Street, leading to Sitka High, around 9:10 p.m., police were told.
    At 9:12 p.m. a bear was reported “active” in Vennetti’s trailer court.
    At 10:20 p.m. a man yelling and causing a disturbance on Kaagwaantaan Street was dropped off by police at the hospital for treatment. He said he had been in a fight recently. Police said he may decide later to press charges, after he receives medical care and sobers up.
    At 10:55 p.m. a man yelling and causing a disturbance in front of the post office told police he had been mailing a letter and “agreed to move along quietly.”
    At 11:15 p.m. a woman reported a bear on Andrew P. Hope Street.
    A bear came through the Bahrt Circle area around 11:30 p.m. Police chased it into the woods behind Pherson Street.
October 25
    A man and woman were heard arguing on Lincoln Street at 11:45 p.m. A witness told police they went their separate ways.
    At 1:06 a.m. a woman said a bear slammed something into her house on Rudolph Walton Circle, and woke up her son.
    A bear was seen at 1:15 a.m. in the Indian River subdivision.
    At 1:30 a.m. a resident reported a foster child hadn’t returned home. The juvenile returned and police were told no help was needed.
    At 2:45 a.m. a bear was seen digging through trash on Andrew P. Hope Street. Police saw it in the muskeg area.
    A bear was seen at the end of Bahovec Court at 5:12 a.m.
   
Emergency Calls
    Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 8:45 p.m. Thursday and 9:44 a.m. today.

In Court
    Kindly R. Malassab, 23, was fined $2,000, with $1,000 suspended, for unlawful methods of taking game. He was charged after troopers said he used lights on October 13 to shoot a deer, and shot a deer from a vehicle on Harbor Mountain Road. The charge involving the vehicle was dismissed. He will be on probation for a year, and is to forfeit his Winchester .30-06 with scope, and two flashlights.

Grand Jury
    A Sitka grand jury on Thursday indicted Leobardo C. Bojorquez-Gonzales, 42, on a charge of vehicle theft in the first degree. He is alleged to have stolen a vehicle on Oct. 15.
   
Coast Guard
    A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka helicopter Thursday evening was diverted from a training flight to medevac a 72-year-old man with a medical emergency from Angoon to Sitka for treatment.
