October 25, 2021, Police Blotter

Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

October 8

At 2:56 a.m. a caller on Spruce Street said a bear had spread garbage, which the caller had cleaned up.

At 3:50 a.m. an officer reported scaring a bear away in the1900 block of Dodge Circle.

At 11:06 a.m. a dog was reported attacking another dog. The ACO responded.

At 12:21 p.m. a man with mental health issues was reported having problems. Officers were unable to locate him.

At 2:45 p.m. trash was reported in a ditch in the 3800 block of HPR. A nearby business said the trash wasn’t theirs but they would clean it up.

At 8:57 a.m. and again at 12:50 p.m. trash was reported strewn near Sitka High School. Police were to contact the school superintendent about the recurring problem.

A caller asked for a welfare check on a friend, but did not have the friend’s last name or address.

October 9

At 12:33 a.m. a caller said two kids were running and screaming in the 2400 block of HPR. Officers were unable to locate them.

At 3:13 a.m. a bear call came in from the 200 block of Marine Street.

At 4:02 a.m. residents on Andrews Street complained about noise from a party. Officers gave four men a disorderly conduct warning, and they agreed to go back inside.

At 8:17 a.m. a husky was reported at large in the 700 block of HPR. A driver  took it to the Raptor Center, where the ACO was to pick it up.

A park ranger called in citizen contacts made at Totem Park visitor center at 12:55 p.m., 1:11 p.m. and 1:24 p.m.

At 2:55 p.m a woman said she couldn’t find her 8-year-old daughter. She called a few minutes later, however, to say she had found the child.

At 2:56 p.m. oil was reported on the roadway near city hall. A company reported some had leaked from a truck and it was tending to it.

At 4:34 p.m. a caller reported finding someone apparently had been in her home. Officers determined she had made marks on her freshly mopped floor.

October 10

At 1:28 a.m. citizen contact was made in the 300 block of Seward Street.

At 6:11 a.m. a bear call came in from Sirstad Street.

A domestic problem was reported at Baranof Street and SMC at 11:43 a.m. A man was allowed to take some of his belongings with him, and he and a woman were to separate for the night. The two were advised to contact the courts.

At 5 p.m. a parking problem was reported in the 400 block of Etolin Way.

Citizen contact was made at 6 p.m. in the 2000 block of HPR after a trailer was found not to have lights.

At 6:45 p.m. a domestic problem was reported aboard an Alaska Airlines flight. Officers talked to the couple and to witnesses.

A caller reported a problem with her ex, who was texting her. Officers told him to stop.

Bear calls came in at 10 p.m. from Tlinget Way and at 11:47 p.m. from Wolff Drive.

October 11

At 12:44 a.m. two men were reported fighting outside a downtown bar. One man was told not to return to the bar for the rest of the night.

At 3:08 a.m. a caller reported neighbors were fighting at an apartment on Burkhart Drive. Officers issued a disorderly conduct warning, but at 4:38 a.m. fighting was reported at the address, and one man, who was very intoxicated, was take to the hospital. Police charges are being forwarded.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department received three ambulance calls Friday; and one ambulance call and a false alarm  at 1:26 p.m. on Lake Street on Saturday.

On Sunday two ambulance calls came in; and at 3:06 a.m. today a false alarm came in from Flume Circle.
