 More Appreciation

Dear Editor: In my thank you letter on Friday, I failed to note special thanks to Highliner Coffee for their donation of coffee and to Sitka Bottling Co. for donating cardboard flats for the Alaska Day pie sale at Sitka Lutheran. Both are appreciated, as well as the Daily Sitka Sentinel’s PSA’s along with those I mentioned on Friday.

Kathleen Brandt, Sitka

Charity Auction

Dear Editor: I am so disappointed in the Sitkans who are responding to the Slave Auction that do not understand how painful and hurtful it is to hear such words. Thank you so much, NAACP, for standing up for what is right. When you could not get a hold of people to complain, then the news release was great. No, Sitkans are intelligent and we will NOT be calling the Charity Auction the Slave Auction on the side, because we have hearts.

In addition, thank you so much, City of Sitka, for the new sidewalks and narrow streets. I also will love the new roundabout on Edgecumbe Drive. Both are perfect for the city. The more sidewalks, the better. Please continue the sidewalk all the way up Monastery.

We have a wonderful city with intelligent people.

Sally Day, Sitka
