Fireworks
Dear Editor: We live in an area where someone randomly sets off fireworks. I wanted to point out some of the reasons the person who does this might want to reconsider before they strike the next match to disturb their neighbors.
I want that person to think of the person who has insomnia and has FINALLY dropped off to sleep only to be disturbed by the loud bang. Think of the students who should be getting needed sleep before a critical test or before some sports event where their performance will be affected. Think of the person just home from the hospital, who has just received respite from their pain via sleep, only to be awakened. Think of the pets that have a fear of loud noises, and the damage they might cause. Think of the parents who have children they will now need to comfort and coax back to sleep.
What might be a moment of fun for you can turn out to be a long terrible night for someone else. These are just some of the reasons that our society has taken the step to outlaw fireworks for the greater good of a greater number of people. You may get not be caught by the police, but I am hoping that your conscience will catch you out the next time you are thinking of striking that match.
Please find some compassion for your fellow man.

Haunted Ship
Dear Editor: Thank you for making the Haunted Maple a success this year. Maple had about 750 visitors last night and raised a lot of food for the local food banks. The crew worked very hard to pull this off and it took all week to set up. None of this would have been possible without the town’s support and the crew’s hard work. Thank you for braving the cold rain and long line.
