    Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
October 29
    At 7:32 a.m. a caller said a bear had gotten into garbage on Kimsham Street. A message was left for public works.
    A student missing school, answered the phone when the school called, then hung up, school officials said. Police talked to the mother, who confirmed the child was sick, and plays games with the phone.
    Ambulances were called for a woman with chest pain and an employee who collapsed and suffered a head wound or injury.
    At 4:40 p.m. a woman asked for help getting a raincoat back from a friend. She said she messaged her friend, and he hadn’t messaged her back. She then told officers that the raincoat was not actually hers.
    A resident said a bear killed a neighbor’s chickens on Merrill Street.
    At 5:52 p.m. a man was reported being loud and rude at the library, and was asked to stop. Police were asked to do a walk through of the building, but he left before officers arrived.
    At 6:20 p.m. a resident said her ex-boyfriend had locked her in her room, and she was unable to reach the keys. Police called her back, and she said she was able to break through the door to get out. She didn’t want to provide more information to police.
    At 6:40 p.m. a driver complained about a taxi going under the speed limit over the bridge.
    At 9:50 p.m. a resident reported a bear active at her Pirates Street residence, and asked an officer to scare it off. The bear was gone when police checked.
    A resident asked for a ride to the hospital so he could sober up.
October 30
    At 2 a.m. a caller said a bear tipped over a garbage can in the 1000 block of Lake Street, and made a mess. Police located the trail the bear used and found it was full of trash.
    At 2:30 a.m. an intoxicated man went to the police station to ask for a ride home. A friend or family member couldn’t be reached, and the man asked to go to the hospital. He registered a .330 reading on the breathalyzer and was taken to the hospital.
    At 2:40 a.m. a resident said a bear got into garbage on Verstovia Street. Police issued a citation to a Baranof Street resident.
    An ambulance was called for a person with heart problems.
    At 5:23 a.m. a man was heard yelling at a woman on Burkhart Street. Police talked to a man and two women at the scene. It turned out the man had distributed property belonging to a neighbor. Police checked the man’s home to make sure he didn’t have any more of the neighbor’s property.

    Sitka Fire Department received ambulance calls at 8 a.m. 10:45 a.m., 7 p.m. and 10:51 p.m. Tuesday; and 2:48 and 3:24 a.m. today.
