Police Blotter
Sitka Police Department received the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.
October 5
At 12:19 a.m. a parking problem was reported at Kramer Avenue and HPR.
At 12:27 a.m. a traffic hazard was reported at the ferry terminal.
Five warnings about having bear attractants were issued to residents between the 2600 block and 2900 block of HPR.
Found property was turned in at the police station.
Police received a call about a suicidal subject at 9:26 a.m.
At 1:26 p.m. police assisted in a trespass case at Eliason Harbor.
At 2:28 p.m. a taxi complaint came in from Katlian.
A theft was reported at Hames Center.
At 2:51 p.m. a caller reported her car had been keyed, causing about $2,200 damage. A suspect was identified. Police said it appeared to be an isolated incident.
A civil dispute was reported on Cedar Beach Road.
A caller reported graffiti on the Sheldon Jackson Library. The incident is being investigated.
At 11:26 p.m. callers reported bears getting into trash in the 1400 block of Edgecumbe Drive.
October 6
At 12:09 a.m. a bear call came in from Georgeson Loop.
At 12:50 a.m. an officer reported seeing a sow and cub in a yard in the 1400 block of Edgecumbe Drive and driving them away.
At 3:08 a.m. another bear call came in from 1403 Edgcumbe, and at 4:32 a.m. a sow and two cubs were reported on Mills Street. Police issued several bear attractant warnings.
