Police Blotter
Police received the following calls by 8 a.m. today:
October 4
A downtown store reported a theft, and the manager requested a criminal trespass order against a man.
A medical center asked for a criminal trespass order to be signed.
At 3:25 p.m. a caller said a man appeared to be passed out against a downtown wall but then a passerby spoke to him and he seemed fine.
A caller asked for a welfare check on a friend whose ex-boyfriend had threatened the caller, and then the friend’s phone was suddenly disconnected. The friend told officers she was fine and that her phone had been shut off.
At 7:19 p.m. a caller complained dogs had been barking for over an hour in the 3200 block of HPR.
At 7:40 p.m. a caller reported a traffic accident on Indian River Road. Officers talked to people on the area who said their dog had been struck by a car due to its not being on a leash. The driver told officers it had run in front of the car.
At 7:48 p.m. a caller said a child age 2-3 wearing only a T-shirt appeared to be cold and was crying, at Jeff Davis and Lincoln. Officers found the child, who appeared to be fine.
October 5
At 12:31 a.m. a caller said a dog that appeared to be dying had come into their yard on Kimsham Street. It seemed very ill and skinny, and was taken to a clinic. Its owner called police and was advised to contact the clinic.
At 12:51 a.m. USCG Juneau said it couldn’t reach Sitka by phone. Officers advised Air Station Sitka.
At 3:13 a.m. officers contacted a man sitting in a vehicle at 614 Katlian and found he was intoxicated but had committed no crime. He was escorted back to his boat.
At noon a 911 caller reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries at 814 HPR.
At 4:54 p.m. a caller said her vehicle might have been vandalized at Castle Hill parking lot. An officer put a windshield wiper back down and noted scratches were minimal. He said a raven may have been playing on the hood.
October 6
At 2:17 a.m. a caller said a man off Habor Drive was yelling for someone, and when the caller asked if he was looking for his dog he said he was looking for his intoxicated girlfriend. She was located on the beach, injured, and taken to a hospital.
At 5 a.m. a caller reported noise and coming and going at a residence in the 2700 block of HPR. Officers found several people at the residence but no noise. A disorderly conduct warning was issued.
At 12:42 p.m. an intoxicated woman in the ER left against medical advice. Police found the woman, and called a family member to care for her.
At 1:24 p.m. officers assisted several hikers who were being harassed by a pair of goats. With some help from a neighbor, the goats returned home on Cascade Creek Road.,
Police cited a vehicle parked on a blind corner, on Shelikof Street.
A man said the mother of his child didn’t bring their daughter to his home, as per a custody agreement. He was advised it was a civil issue.
At 6:50 p.m. a man was reported climbing in a church window. Officers determine there was no crime.
October 7
At 1:41 a.m. a caller said a bear had dragged trash of a container at Krestof and HPR. A resident cleaned up the mess, and was given a warning.
Sitka Police
Joseph J. Williams, 43, was charged Friday with criminal trespass and cited for having an open container and littering, at ANB Harbor.
Emergency Calls
Sitka Fire Department dispatched four ambulances on Saturday, and five Sunday.
