Sitka Police Department logged the following calls as of 8 a.m. today.

October 6

At 2:59 a.m. an officer reported two bears were getting into trash at the National Park visitor center. The officer scared them off.

At 9:05 a.m. a couple of bears were reported hanging out at the transfer station, not being aggressive but not showing fear. The wildlife troopers were notified.

A person staying near the Gavan Hill trail head reported items had been moved around.

At 10:29 a.m. a park ranger reported talking with people on the Sitka National Historical Park foot bridge.

At 12:56 p.m. a large rock was reported in the turning lane at HPR and Kashevaroff Street. An officer moved the rock.

At 4:25 p.m. a man on a bike was reported going in and out of traffic at SMC and Jarvis Street.

A man talked to police about an ongoing issue over a theft.

October 7

At 5:16 a.m. a bear call came in from Kelly Street, in the 900 block of Lincoln Street.

 

Emergency Calls

Sitka Fire Department responded to two ambulance calls Wednesday.
